Captain Jonathan Butler 

Uniform Division Captain

Captain Butler grew up in Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School in 2002. He earned a Bachelor of  Science degree in Criminal Justice from Jacksonville State University in 2007.

 

Captain Butler bagan his law enforcement career with the Anniston Police Department in 2007, before joining the Oxford Police Department in 2013. During his tenure with Oxford, he has served as Patrol Officer, Criminal Investigator, Tactical Flight Officer with the Aviation Support Unit, Sergeant in the Criminal Investigations Division, and most recently as Lieutenant and Watch Commander for A Shift Patrol.

 

He is a graduate of the Alabama Investigator Academy and the Southeastern Leadership Command College at Jacksonville State University and continues to pursue advanced leadership training.

 

Captain Butler looks forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Oxford while helping ensure the city remains one of the safest commuities in Alabama and a leader in law enforcement excellence throughout East Alabama.
