L.G. Owens

Investigations Division Captain

 

Captain L.G. “Chip” Owens has been employed with Oxford Police Department since January of 1989. He attended Jacksonville State University with a major in Forensic Science and has received specialized training in the areas of Computer Evidence Recovery, Digital Evidence Acquisition, Mobile Device Investigations, and holds other forensic investigations certificates.

 

As Captain of the Investigation’s Division, Captain Owens oversees such specialized units as the department’s Forensic Unit, Special Investigations, Warrant Unit, and the Office of Professional Standards.

 

Captain Owens started his career as a patrolman and has since been promoted through the ranks of Sergeant and Lieutenant before being promoted to Captain in 2014.
